CPM pulls Haryana minister's remarks over inter caste marriages
ROHTAK: Haryana CPM has taken a strong exception to the public utterances of Haryana cabinet minister Geeta Bhukkal who described choice marriages against Haryana's culture. The CPM secretary Inderjit Singh said that Bhukkal who hold the charge of Education, Social Justice, Welfare of SC and BC and Women and Child Development has publicly condemned an inter-caste marriage over which some dominant caste elements had perpetrated violent reprisals against dalit families at Pabnawa in Kaithal district last week.Criticizing the utterances of the minister, Singh said that it's an act of total defiance of the same constitution which she is under oath duty bound to defend as a minister. "Her conduct is bound to further embolden the culprits who still continue to threaten the Dalit families at Pabnawa", he remarked. He informed that his party has urged the Governor to take cognizance of the unbecoming conduct of the minister whom he had administered the oath for defending the constitution and take suitable action against Bhukkal. She cannot be allowed to conveniently abdicate her constitutional obligation and play populist politics with impunity.Meanwhile several social organizations today took out an angry protest at Kaithal against the atrocities committed against Pabnawa Dalits.
